Martyr Alexandra Ioakimovna Bulgakova was born in 1886 in the village of Koblovatka, Kozlovsky district of the Tambov province, into a peasant family. She was a religious person, often visiting holy places and meeting with priests. In 1936, after the adoption of the constitution, she refused to participate in the elections, linking this to an illness, after the first voting. In June 1938, on the day of the elections, she refused to go to the polling station, demonstrating her faith in God and refusing to cooperate with the godless. After this, on September 2, she was arrested. In prison, Alexandra refused to give testimony, remaining steadfast in her faith. She died of hunger on October 15, 1938, in the Taganka prison hospital and was buried in an unmarked grave. The memory of the martyr is celebrated on October 2 (15).
