Saint Alexander was born on August 15, 1870, in the village of Tipnya, in the Vesiyehonsky district of Tver province, into the family of priest Ioann Talizin. After graduating from the Theological Seminary, he was ordained a priest and served in the churches of the Tver diocese. In 1928, during the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, he was arrested, accused of anti-Soviet agitation, and sentenced to two years of exile. After returning in 1930, he served in the church in the village of Shablykino in the Krasnokholmsky district until his arrest.
He was arrested on February 10, 1938, and imprisoned in a prison in Krasny Kholm. During interrogation, he denied all accusations. On February 12, the investigation was completed and submitted for consideration by the NKVD troika. On February 13, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Alexander Talizin was shot on February 20, 1938, and buried in an unknown common grave.
