Saint Alexander was born in 1861 in the family of priest Nikolai Preobrazhensky. After graduating from the Perm Theological Seminary in 1882, he was appointed as a village teacher. On March 2, 1885, Alexander was ordained as a priest for the Trinity Church in the Pojva factory of the Solikamsk district of the Perm province and was appointed as a legal advisor to the male school. In 1894, he was appointed head of the Ust-Pojva literacy school and a member of the deanery council, in 1898 he became the head of the Gorodishche school, in 1916 he was appointed legal advisor to the higher educational institution; in 1917 he became the dean of the 2nd Solikamsk district. For his pedagogical activity, he was repeatedly noted by the diocesan authorities. In 1906, he was awarded a pectoral cross, and in 1917 he was elevated to the rank of protopresbyter.
Protopresbyter Alexander Preobrazhensky was shot by godless Bolsheviks in September 1918 in the village of Usolie in the Solikamsk district of the Perm province. According to eyewitness accounts, the priest died praying fervently and holding a cross in his hand.
