Presbyter
Saint Martyr Alexander Viktorovich Pozdeevsky was born in 1868 in the village of Bolshie Soly, Kostroma province, and served as a priest in his native village. After the publication of the Decree on the separation of schools from the Church, he began to teach children the Law of God in the church, using his textbooks. In 1930, the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos was closed, and the bells were removed. By the blessing of the Father, a delegation of believers went to the village council demanding the return of the bells and church vestments. In one of the houses, a prayer house was arranged, where divine services were occasionally held by visiting priests. Visiting this house and participating in 'underground counter-revolutionary gatherings' were charged against Fr. Alexander, who was also accused of 'conducting active terrorist agitation.' On November 25, 1937, Fr. Alexander was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment and served his sentence in the Temnikov concentration camp in Mordovia. After three years of suffering and trials, he reposed on October 25, 1940.
