Saint Martyr Alexius Saburov was a priest in the active army from 1914 to 1915. From 1915 to December 1918, he served as a protodeacon in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ and in the prison church of the city of Perm. In 1918, on the night of December 16 to 17, he was martyred by the Bolsheviks. According to the accounts of his granddaughter, Father Alexius was taken from his bed, in his underwear, with a noose around his neck, barefoot through the snow, and led to the Kama River where he was tied to an iron bed and drowned. On the same day, December 17, 1918, in the Kama River, after severe torture, priest Alexander Posokhin, who served in the village of Krasno-Sludskoye of the Perm district of the Perm province, was also drowned.
