Holy Martyr Alexander of Pydna
Martyr
Saint martyr Alexander, during the persecution of Christians by pagans, reproached the idolaters in the city of Pidna and preached the Christian faith, converting many pagans to Christ. His courage and God-inspired words provoked the wrath of the idol worshippers, who seized him and subjected him to cruel tortures, trying to force him to offer sacrifices to the idols. Unable to sway him to do so, they sentenced him to be beheaded with a sword. With a prayer of gratitude to God, the holy martyr bowed his head under the sword's blow and entrusted his soul to the Lord.
On the same day, we commemorate the holy martyr Christina, who suffered in the 4th century in Persis.
