On the night of October 20 to 21, 1937, priests from the Perevoz district of the Nizhny Novgorod region were arrested. On November 11, all were sentenced to the highest measure of punishment and executed by shooting. The Church commemorates the memory of four of them today.
- Priest Alexander Ivanovich Ilyinsky, born in 1899 in the village of Pustyn, Nizhny Novgorod province, served in the village of Bolshie Kemary. He was accused of leading an anti-Soviet group and expressing dissatisfaction with the Soviet government.
- Priest Alexander Mikhailovich Kurmyshsky, born in 1879 in the city of Simbirsk, graduated from the theological seminary, served in the church of the village of Tanaykovo.
- Priest Pavlin Ivanovich Staropolev, born in 1865 in the village of Bykovy Gory, Spassky district of Nizhny Novgorod province, graduated from the theological seminary, served in the village of Dubskoye.
- Priest Nikolai Alexeyevich Troitsky, born in 1885 in the village of Lobaski, Ichalkovsky district in Mordovia, served in the village of Revezen.
During the interrogations, the martyrs held themselves with dignity and rejected all accusations.
