Presbyter
Saint Alexander was born on August 13, 1864, in the village of Zelenetsino, Klin district, Moscow province. In 1880, he graduated from the Zvenigorod Theological School, and in 1887, from the Vifansk Theological Seminary. In the same year, he was ordained a priest at the Nativity of the Theotokos Church in the village of Aleksandrovo, where he served for ten years. In 1897, he was transferred to the Trinity Church in the village of Troitskoye.
In 1930, during the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, he was arrested on January 2 and imprisoned in Butyrka prison. During the interrogation, he refused to engage in anti-Soviet propaganda, asserting that he was not involved in political activities. On February 13, 1930, he was sentenced to three years of exile in the Northern region.
After his arrest, he described his sufferings in a diary, mentioning the hardships of life in prison and exile. He spent five nights in terrible conditions in Arkhangelsk, after which he was sent to the Chasovensky village council. In his writings, he noted his loneliness and need for Divine mercy.
He passed away on March 25, 1933, and was buried in an unmarked grave in the village cemetery.
