Presbyter
Priest Alexander Dagaev was born in 1862 in the city of Biysk in the family of priest Vladimir Dagaev. From a young age, he was immersed in the church atmosphere, participating in his father's services and assisting him. Alexander entered the Tomsk Theological Seminary, where he studied the foundations of Orthodoxy and theology. His spiritual life was shaped by the influence of holy figures, including Bishop Vladimir and Hieromonk Naum. In 1884, he graduated from the seminary with the highest title of 'Student' and married Stepanida Drobinina, after which he was ordained to the priesthood.
Since 1892, Alexander became the rector of the Pokrovsky Cathedral and the dean of the churches of the Zmeinogorsk district. His efforts for the glory of the Church were recognized with imperial awards, but he sought only to serve Christ. In 1920, during the revolution, Priest Alexander was arrested for his sermons on Christian commandments. On January 10, 1920, he was killed by armed men. His fingers were folded for priestly blessing.
The Hierarchical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church canonized him among the ranks of saints and new martyrs on August 19, 2000. His memory is celebrated on January 10.
