Saint Alexander was born on August 8, 1881, in the village of Kelyi, Volokolamsk district of Moscow province. After finishing the parish school, he helped his father in trade, and he compensated for the lack of education with self-education. In 1908, he moved to Moscow with his family and became the owner of a flower shop. After the February Revolution of 1917, he became a psalmist in the church of the village of Shcheglyatevo.
On September 23, 1921, he was ordained as a deacon, and on June 18, 1930, he was ordained as a priest for the Znamenskaya church in the village of Sudnikovo. Since January 1, 1931, he served in the Vvedenskaya church of the village of Khranovo.
On October 29, 1937, he was interrogated as a witness, where he was accused of anti-Soviet activities. Father Alexander was arrested on November 12, 1937, and imprisoned in the Taganka prison in Moscow.
During the interrogations, he stated that he was ready to suffer for his faith, like Jesus Christ. On November 23, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Alexander Bykov was shot on November 27, 1937, at the Butovo firing range and buried in an unknown common grave.
