The Persian king Sapor, pursuing Christians, captured three secret Christians: Akindin, Pigasius, and Anempodistus. They boldly confessed their faith and were not afraid of torture. The king, seeing their steadfastness, ordered them to be cruelly tortured, but the saints continued to pray and glorify God. The Lord appeared to them in human form, freed them from chains, and healed them, which terrified the king.
The king, unwilling to acknowledge the power of God, continued to torture the saints, but they remained unharmed. After many torments, the saints were thrown into cauldrons of boiling tin, but even there they remained intact. One of the torturers, Afoniy, believed in Christ and was executed for this. The saints were again imprisoned, but they continued to strengthen the faith of the people.
The king, unable to overcome the saints, ordered them to be thrown into a fiery furnace. They prayed, and the furnace did not harm them. The king's mother and many warriors also believed and were thrown into the furnace, where they all surrendered their souls to God. After this, the saints were found unharmed and their bodies were given an honorable burial, glorifying the One God.
