Martyr Agathocleia
Martyr
Saint Martyr Agafoklia was a servant of the Christian Nicholas. Her mistress Pavlina, who adhered to the heresy of Arius, cruelly tormented Agafoklia for eight years, forcing her to renounce the Orthodox faith. She subjected the saint to various tortures: she was stoned, made to walk barefoot on sharp stones, had her ribs crushed with an iron hammer, and finally, her tongue was cut off. Despite all her sufferings, the saint did not yield to persuasion and was imprisoned, where she suffered from hunger, but birds brought her small fruits. Ultimately, Pavlina killed Agafoklia with an iron bar.
