Athanasius Dmitrievich Milov was born in 1877 in the village of Soldatskoye, Nizhnelomovsky district of Penza province. He graduated from a 3-class school in his native village. Until 1930, he served as a priest in the village of Shchuchye, maintaining relations with the clergy of the Nikolskaya Church in the city of Petropavlovsk, who preserved their fidelity to Orthodoxy. In 1937, he was nominated as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet, but his candidacy was rejected.
Father Athanasius was arrested on November 28, 1937, on charges of counter-revolutionary activity. He did not admit his guilt and was shot by the verdict of the troika of the NKVD on December 2, 1937. The place of his burial is unknown. He was glorified by the Archierarchical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000.
