Saint Martyr Adrian was born on June 12, 1872, in the village of Bilyarsk, Kazan province, in the family of deacon Alexander Troitsky. After graduating from the Cheboksary Theological School, he worked as a teacher and psalmist. In 1903, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1910, he became a priest, becoming the rector of the Trinity Church in the village of Mikhailovsk. In 1918, he was arrested but released. In 1937, during the persecutions against the Church, he was arrested again and accused of counter-revolutionary activities. Father Adrian did not acknowledge his guilt. On February 13, 1938, he was sentenced to death and shot on February 15, being buried in a common unmarked grave.
