Saints Adrian and Eubulus
Martyrs
The holy martyrs Adrian and Evvul were from the city of Vannia. Moved by love for the confessors of Christ, they went to the city of Caesarea, where they learned about the Christians. Captured, they stood before the governor Firmilian, who subjected them to cruel tortures, trying to force them to renounce Christ. Remaining steadfast in faith, the saints were thrown to be torn apart by wild beasts. Blessed Adrian was the first to engage in battle with a lion and was beheaded with a sword. Saint Evvul was also attempted to be persuaded to renounce, but he remained unyielding and was likewise beheaded with a sword after fighting with a lion.
