A group cruise along the west coast of Mount Athos from Ouranoupolis
Take a cruise along the west coast of Mount Athos from Ouranoupolis on a cruise ship.
The cruise is available from April through October (the exact dates depend on the weather conditions). The tour around Mount Athos by cruise ship takes place every day at 10:30 am and 02.30 pm. The duration of the cruise is about 3 hours.
As a rule, Athos monks bring the relics of their monasteries to the morning ship. It's a large, capacious boat with a capacity of up to 300 passengers. The route runs along the southwest coast of the Holy Mount Athos, where the following monasteries and shrines are located:
- Xenophontos — Particle of the Precious Life-giving Cross of the Lord, parts of the relics of St. George, Philip the Apostle, St. Panteleimon, St. Marina, Andrew the Apostle, St. Barnabas, St. Basil, St. Anne;
- The Skete of St Anne (mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary) — the miraculous icon healing from infertility.
From the deck of the ship you can enjoy unforgettable views of the monasteries and natural landscapes of Athos, capturing these memorable moments on the photo- or video camera. General information about the Holy Mount Athos is presented during the trip in several languages, including English. If you want to learn the history of the Holy Mountain and its monasteries in more detail — you can order a tour to Mount Athos with a guide who holds degree in theology, or book an individual yacht cruise around Mount Athos with monks bringing the relics to your ship.
You can buy photo booklets and souvenirs on the ship, as well as get coffee, snacks, juices and refreshments from the bar.
The cost of a cruise ticket is €22 for an adult, and €11 for children of 7-11 years old. For children under 6 years old the ticket is free of charge. The price does not include transfer to the starting point of the cruise.
